The Water Engineering sector continues to grow to meet the challenges of increased demand caused by population and climate change risk.  Water supply and flood prediction and control are becoming increasingly important.  Bridgewater Consultancy works with leading Water Engineering clients, if you are ready for a new challenge our clients would like to hear from you.

Water Engineering specialises in water-based projects and generally deals with the provision of clean water, disposal of waste water and the provision of flood defences.  The standards and requirements for water quality and quantity are rising, along with the frequency of major flood events such as the vast floods in 2007 in the UK which submerged 55,000 homes. 

The work involves all stages of projects from conception and planning of flood defence schemes, sewer improvement programmes, irrigation systems etc. to completion and handover. 

Job Duties in Water Engineering
As a water engineer you will be expected to have experience in the full cycle of sewerage / clean water projects such as asset planning, master planning, water treatment, sewage treatment, pumping stations and clean and waste water network resilience and maintenance. You will also be expected to have a B-Eng./M-Eng. in civil engineering or related degree, a M.Sc. specializing in a Water related subject is desirable as are candidates working towards chartered status (IstructE, MICE).

You will be working on major projects and conducting site investigations, prepare and outline detailed civil engineering designs and produce technical and commercial specifications including measurements and  calculations, drawings and schedules working closely with clients and contractors.  You will also be expected to attend technical meetings, supervise the work of more junior staff, produce technical reports, managing project budgets, keeping up-to-date with changes in regulatory legislation, guidelines etc., writing and advertising tender documents and managing contracts, using a variety of specialist computer applications/simulation software/codes, ensuring that projects keep to budgets and timescales.
